Rolling Pin Paintings
The rolling pin is a cylindrical food preparation utensil used to flatten dough. Removed from the kitchen context (not dissimilar to making a printing stamp from a potato) it is used in the same way, to flatten daubs of acrylic paint. As the paint is pressed into the wooden surface the colours combine, and the rolling pins surface retains paint and forms a print or facsimile of the marks just made. The utensil becomes a quasi rotary printing press.
